Raising £2000 for Fibromyalgia
(£26,000 is required for the new research sponsorship)
The Fibroduck Foundation is a charity dedicated to biomedical research into fibromyalgia syndrome.
It was set up because no other Fibromyalgia Group or Charity was specifically raising awareness and pushing for research into this illness. They all provide excellent support, advice and literature, so we work alongside these groups, but specifically fundraising for research.
The Fibroduck Foundation was born out of the flagship awareness raising group Fibroduck.com. This was a Group with a campaign to raise awareness and understanding of fibromyalgia and ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome).
Fibroduck.com is a non profit making group raising awareness of fibromyalgia in a fun but memorable way. Financial support and sponsorship helps to buy the ducks to send around the world to spread the word.
The idea was to make the awareness raising fun and involve lots of people. One didn't have to be a sufferer to have a Duck! Family, friends, colleagues and celebrities could join in by sharing their photographs.
In two years, 5,000 ducks have been sent across the world, and Fibroduck followers have sent in 3,000 photos of their little duck doing fun things.
Fibroduck.com has a very active fans page on Facebook, with members answering questions, sharing their experiences and supporting each other every day. It became quite apparent more was needed to help support those with Fibromyalgia, without overlapping what was already available.

- To raise funds for studies toward a better diagnosis,
- A definitive medical test and better treatments,
- To provide a means for scientists and patients to work collaboratively.
- There is currently little research done for Fibromyalgia. By raising awareness and funds Fibroduck Foundation.com can push forward for research, currently not high on any other fibromyalgia support group (although their essential role of support and providing support material is also of paramount importance).
How does financial help support the Fibroduck Foundation?
- £26,000 funds the new research that Fibroduck are sponsoring to help understand Fibromyalgia and find a cure
- £30 buys a months supply of Fibroducks. These are sent out free to help spread the word of Fibromyalgia.
- £100 can buy an investment to buy and sell merchandise promoting the work of Fibroduck and the Fibroduck Foundation, and raising more funds.
- £500 can be an investment to buy and sell calenders, raising more funds and awareness.
- £5000 p.a maintains a charity status and a high profile to significantly give greater impact and impetus to keep the research high on everyone's agenda.
- This ultimately leads to a healthy bank balance to help activate and push for the essential research into Fibromyalgia and find a cure. Plus helps guide and support Doctors in early diagnosis, and for better and more effective treatment.
More research and development is required to help treat this disease.
