The Read College Hardship Bursary

Our Mission:
We will produce professional, well trained students, with knowledge of all aspects of their industry, and we aim to give young people the best start to their career by preparing them to audition for further training and by forming links with industry professionals.  We will provide young people with the tools to enable them to manage themselves in further training both personally and professionally, and as a college we aim to constantly develop and innovate.

However, not everyone can afford that opportunity. Which is why RDTC have set up a charity to help a young person afford the bursary and follow their dreams into the Performing Arts. Let's help give them that chance.

I enjoy the work of the two Directors and staff of RDTC, and the sister group Read Theatre, for younger people. As a young person I loved all the disciplinces of the Performing Arts. I enjoyed dancing, singing, acting and stage craft. I could lose myself into characters or just be Me. At all levels I was inspired, motivated and challenged. I didn't take up a profession in the performing arts but I am the strong, confident person that I am because of it. At a time when life really did suck I found consolation in a craft I could excel, that boosted my confidence and self esteem. I also found a friendship group where I could relax and be Me. This overlaps with my desire to help another charity that helps young people.

~*~ We raised £436 specifically for this hardship bursary at the New Year Gala 2011 - fantastic support ~*~
