I have been desk bound working long hours this week. I have managed a 5km walk each morning with the dogs. I did 10 miles last night with Chris for the Shine training. Most evenings I am getting in another 5km as a dog walk or run.
But, what about lunch time? Oh, that annoying little break that gets in the way of my finishing a zillion tasks before home time!
And hold that thought!
Is my health really worth working through 8 hours without a break? Does my body really enjoy staying desk bound in a small airless, windowless office? Does my body enjoy this sedentary restriction of sitting still?
Nah!
I had a tweet from a friend today that reminded me of the importance of taking a break from the desk. Oh shame on me for letting the standards drop and falling foul of this most important midday ritual! Yes, the @12pmclub! The body needs a break, it needs fresh air and a vigourous shake up to get the circulation and blood moving. This will make wake me up and make me feel alive and alert so increased productivity! But also the therapy of fresh air and TAKING A BREAK is vital for my well being.
So I shall pack the trainers with the lunch box, well not literally, and make sure I get out for a good brisk walk tomorrow lunch time.
