Today I thought I ought to get back into training having had 2 days recovery from the Great South Run.

But what exactly am I doing next? The Turbo X Trail. Hehe! it is going to be a lot of tough muddy fun! But not in the ducksuit! that could be suicidal!. the run is described as -

We return to the venue of the GREATEST Turbo X on the Martinique Army Training grounds at Bordon (Hants) - it's and the muddiest, maddest route ever.

Our route designers certainly excelled with this Tough Trail Run taking you beyond your comfort zone - 10-or-so miles of sand, mud, hills and bogs suitable only for 4x4's and humans in trail shoes.

Midrace we will be offering you a unique challenge - how quickly can you run through the toughest, wettest, muddiest 1 mile section of the race - a challenge-within-a-challenge.

You'll finish wet, muddy and tired and wanting more.

Cor, the things I do for my two charities!

Apart from dog walks and being on my feet all day for work for the last 2 days I have tried to relax and just stretch lots. Plus hydrate and eat sensible foods to repair muscle. As usual I have been quite hungry but tried to avoid naughty stuff. I may be burning more calories these days but I don't need to eat them or double them!

I had a sports massage with Vanessa last night. I appear to have tighter right hamstrings which would suggest I am not firing my left quads/hams. Need to make sure I balance my stretching and training but I think that as I have a weaker left knee I succumb to the temptation for the right side to help out the left side.

I also have a touch of tendonitus on the right foot - outside small bone & ligament area. This has got slightly worse over the day, but rest, and avoiding running for a little longer will aid recovery. Possibly DOMs from sunday's run?

I managed to do an hour of kettlercise without causing further problems as avoid too much impact. However, I shall have to postpone Zumba tomorrow. I shall go to the gym for a swim and use the cross trainer though.

Can feel the need for cheese and Port now the colder weather has arrived. Got to keep that comfort eating in check! So far, so good! Made a cottage pie as a perfect alternative comfort food!

My plan for the next 3 weeks is to do off road running in the woods in preperation for the Turbo X Trail. The ground is ideal - soft and muddy! Will do 3 runs of 5km each; will do an additional run as a road run of 10km with a couple of hills. Plus 3 x kettlercise classes, zumba class, recovery swims, recovery x-trainers on alternative days.
