Its my 19th wedding anniversary. No breakfast in bed but I did get a new teapot, which I then had to go and christen! Hmmph! I had muesli for breakfast. As I wasn't running I knew it was a good day to test if this was the menance to my tum. Yup; had a bad tum all day! Just for good measure I also had white bread and some peanuts. Pretty sure they are all culprits. No point running now and my feet are a little tender from yesterday's new monster blister, plus some old ones I was finally able to tend to (remove dead skin to leave tender new skin). Enjoyed a day of reading all things running including my new book "the non runners marathon guide for women" by Dawn Dais. Hilarious & motivational. Am also trawling through the local running clubs as I feel I really do need some enthusiastic, positive running friends. This running bug is now serious! i still need to focus on a proper plan and not jump from 1 to another. Plus find a sensible food plan for energy with fibre as my staples seem to be really upsetting my tum (muesli, porridge, toast, etc)
**news flash..42 days until my next 10km race.I need a training plan so must focus..focus..focus..***
breakfast - muesli, 2 cups tea lunch - peanut butter on toast dinner - home made burger bbq'd & in white roll with salad. 1 bbq'd sausage. Clotted cream icecream with strawberries

Ah the great day! The first ever race to run! I didn't pick a small one to start off with..jumped straight into a 10km! With barely any training due to weakened knees for a couple of weeks. However, with carnival fun like atmosphere of the event, participation and fun is of paramount importance, not PBs or walk/run/jog/die methods. I did the Clapham Race For Life. It was hot..so damn hot! In my ducksuit I slowly roasted to a near-death! Thank Goodness for Becky Smith who stoically trotted along side me when I had to (power)walk through a few stitches and dizzy spells due to the heat. But we finished together on a time of 1hr 7 mins. Jo and Nancy did brilliantly with respective times of 54 mins and 57 mins. I do know I shall have to revamp the outfit for running. That hood and heat did me in mentally and physically. Only injury was a fat deep blister which I had already put a plaster over. I hadn't eaten enough for breakfast which was evident at 9km. But as I have had a dodgy tum all week I was nervous about having a mid run mishap, so didn't over do it. My Nakd bars did me proud, just wish I had brought an extra couple more with me! Not sure I could ever stomach cherry flavoured powerade ever again though! I am also quite pleased with my efforts and it has spurred me on even more to want to run more, more, more! But not in a duck suit! I wasn't the only one in fancy dress by the way.. there were 3 ladies dressed as Whoppee Cushions! Oh boy! I am tired! Late night as wasn't tired, then early alarm call from dog again! Bad stomach again, and I didn't have any muesli so not convinced that is problem. had 4 soft figs so possibly that? Or, Runner's Gut? No muesli or figs or running today as need to be sound for tomorrow's race and staying over at twitter friend's house for team sleep over :0) Just a gentle day helping daughter exercise Pesky Pony, and 5k dog walk. I actually ache, not hurt, in joints, not muscles, after yesterday's run. But must also remember I was doing a lot of manual lifting of Gigglebag plus pushing him in buggy.
Tomorrow I am doing the 10km Race For Life in my Ducksuit. It will be hot so I will rest and drink lots of water today. Plus do some sensible carbing up, and only 2 glasses of wine later.
breakfast - 2 slices white bread & peanut butter lunch - Innocent Mexican snack pot, 2 spelt crackers with hummus dinner - not sure as will be friend's house, poss jacket potato, salad and wine
snack - banana, Nakd Bar, Mocha,
A peculiar day. Was woken up from a deep deep sleep by our dog twice- 5am & 6am. I haven't had such a deep sleep for a long time! Must be the running. I felt so groggy from the early dog alarm that I think it affected me for a few hours! Had a headache most of the day so could have been the rude awakening or the muggy weather. It was a busy & energetic day with dog walks, pesky Pony Training and Drills, plus working with young Gigglebags. He was in a grizzly mood and didn't want to be out in the muggy weather so I didn't do as big a walk as I had hoped with him. Despite my brain inventing a million excuses to not go out running I di actually go. I kept the girls on their lead, even in the woods. Therefore I was more relaxed and not worrying if they were going to dissappear after deer. I had intended to run 3km. I always feel rubbish in the first ten minutes so tried a different tact. I ran 5 mins, walked 2 mins, ran 5 mins, walked 2 mins then felt briliant to run on for 5km. Only flaw in the plan was that Penny keeled over into the grass 400m short of our home and I only compled 4.6km in 38 mins. Not bad. Penny is only 2 and has lotsof energy but it was muggy. Even now, 3 hours after the run she is still snoring! I have also had a peculiar tum and I am not sure of it is the muesli or the daily 5 soft figs causing the problem so I have stopped eating both. Out of interest I got on the scales. I was amused to see I had lost 9lbs in 4 days!
breakfast - banana, poached egg, 2 cups tea lunch - 2 spelt crackers & hummus dinner - chicken, rice and salad
snacks - Nakd bar, 2 brazil nuts, small bag of fat free pretzels, smal bag of low fat, salt free crisps
loads and loads of water with squash today!
Wahoohoo! I have finally fallen in love with running and actually had 2 runs today! Which I didn't think would be possible as I had far too many figs yesterday! 1st run was in our horse paddock. It's a meadow with long grass, rabbit holes, molehills, horse poo, tufty bushes, etc. Plus its on the side of a hill. I ran 3km in 25.06km, It was tough especially on the ankles. But what a fantastic workout, and outdoors with beautiful scenery. 2nd run was on tarmac and fairly straight with just a small uphill spurt at the end. It was my first run with my 2 dogs, Penny aka Duckpooch (2yr old Saluki/whippet cross), and Cassie aka Gobbymoo (6yr old whippet/jack russell cross). They are slightly different heights and obedience. I thought penny would be a lot more bouncy and jumping upa t me which she does off lead when I run in the woods. Both quickly got in rythmn with me, and only 1 wee stop each. Kept it short as it was warm, muggy, harsh tarmac & onleads for sustained period. We did an excelllent 2.5km in 18.20mins
breakfast - muesli & 2 cups of tea lunch - 2 spelt crackers with hummus, banana, satsuma, coffee dinner - grilled chicken with Innocent Pot Mexican bean salad
snacks - lemon curd yoghurt, nakd bar
training - 2 dog walks of 12km total, and 5.5km running as above
Had a lazy start to the morning, and managed to do a quick dog walk before work. I knew today could be a dedicated walking day as today's little chap is in a buggy as he can't walk. We clocked up 32km in total today! Finally sorted out my attitude over food and naughty treats too. No biscuits or crisps, and didnt need them. Also read through latest edition of Women's Running magazine. Some useful tips in there to try. realised I actually prefer running with a buddy so must see if I can find someone.
breakfast - muesli and 2 cups of tea lunch - pasta with dolmio stir in dinner - Innocent pot of Thai vegetable curry and rice
snakcs - soft dried figs, Nakd bar
training - total walking 32km (mostly pushing a heavy buggy with hills)
Yay! Got my running mojo back, plus a new blister as wearing new trainers. Tis only a little blister on my instep so I can't use it to stop me going again :0) Used my new garmin 205. Brilliant to see my running pace, distance, hear the bleep to say "done another 1km". I amnot a fan of gdagets but I do find it very rewarding to see my effort. Also huge surprise to see how well I had done! 3km in 24.23mins! Including a 2min walk. Not sur eif I have improved greatly or just the phone app not efficient compared to a real running gps watch. I did the run in the morngn with my 2 younger dogs. Had to get out early as I was doing a double shift with no chance of any more training as due home ater 8pm. As I work with special needs children I do a lot of running around or pushing them around in their sepcial buggies.
breakfast - muesli and 2 cups of tea (after run) lunch - cheese & ham sandwich with a caramel slice dinner - macaroni cheese and 5 small biscuits (work)
snacks - banana (before run), beetroot juice, 1 G & T (ready made from can), 1 pack of saltless low fat crisps
Oh yes! what a day! Finally got the confidence to run and it felt bloomin' marvelous! It was worth the 3 weeks of rest to aid recovery of weak knee. Didn't over do it but didn't quite do the run I intended! Went to help daughter exercise her Pesky Pony and darn thing just will not lunge on a rope (technical horse exercising terminology). I had my trail trainers on so I just took the lead rein and ran her around her paddock for 15 mins. We both trotted about 1km. I then did the same section again, minus pony, with phone gps to record the distance so I ended up doing 2km and felt very very comfortable. Also went to Sweatshop and bought new road trainers, plus a garmin forerunner 205 and a yellow rainjacket with black polka dots! Well I had to have that! It's my Fibroducksuit colours!
breakfast - egg & bacon sandwich in white bread, 2 cups tea lunch - egg mayonaise sandwich dinner - chicken breast with rosemary, garlic, olive oil & port, lemon couscous, coleslaw.
snacks - banana, beetroot juice, greek honey frozen yoghurt, 3 glass red wine, 1 bacardi & coke (good friend insisted!!)
Dog walk - 5km, running 3km total
I am working today, plus have to fit in horses and dog walking. Today's young charge is mostly wheel chair bound, has severe back issues. So I can only push him about on easy going terrain. But he loves being in the woods & along the rievrside! So today I will be tactically working & training in an unconvential way! I will also have a Macdonald's wrap as my young charge of the day looks forward to a Macdonald treat & insists I have one too! Have to put my eating ethics/Macdonald issues to one side occassionally! However, I am looking at a sumptious recipe for later! Forgot to put my pedometer on for 1st dog walk as I like seeing the daily steps clock up, something I have missed and hadn't realised how much it motivates me to stay out walking all day! Oh, and you may have noticed the more relaxed writing style & food diary! Think this is my favourite, least pressurise way of keeping my notes, and staying sane!
Clocked up 7miles walking with all of the above!
breakfast - 2 weetabix with milk & half teaspoon brown sugar. 2 cups of tea. lunch - Macdonald chicken wrap, chips, orange juice, 1 Smarty cookie dinner - Soy/honey glaze smoked mackerel with coleslaw and new potatoes
snacks - beetroot juice, 1 satsuma, 2 glasses red wine
Oh yes I have been most remiss in not keeping up to date with my training blog! Sadly I have been nursing a knee injury so I have spent last couple of weeks strengthening it and only walking dogs! In 7 days I shall be doing a 10km race for life so I must concerntrate on making sure I can complete that safely as a power walk at the very least!
Breakfast - 2 weetabix and 2 cups of tea lunch - poached egg with fresh spinach and cherry tomatoes dinner - chicken kiev, over chips, peas & sweetcorn (Husband chose & cooked!)
snacks - 2 nakd bars, satsuma, banana, handful almonds, beetroot juice
